Who They Are
Since 1873, St. Joseph Home creates a home for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities who have complex support needs and use a wheelchair for mobility. The Home, a nonprofit ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, focuses attention on the individual’s medical, social, educational and spiritual development, revealing the uniqueness and giftedness of each person. Compassionate care and respect for the dignity of life are the hallmarks of St. Joseph Home.
What They Do
St. Joseph Home offers many different programs depending on the level of care needed. Below are just a few of the many programs St. Joseph Home offers.
Long-term residential care is offered for those infants, children and adults with complex disabilities who require 24/7 nursing and personal care. Through our residential cottages and community home, residents can live their fullest lives with the support they need to reach their personal goals. Our programs are designed to fully adapt with residents as they age – transitioning and supporting them through each stage of life.
Ventilator services– The pediatric and adult ventilator services at St. Joseph Homeventilator services are flexible care options for those who need full or part-time ventilator support. With our highly trained staff on hand 24/7, we make living beyond the bedroom a priority.
Independent Disability Care– The St. Joseph Home Community Home offers greater independence to adults with complex disabilities who are able to live with less intensive medical staffing. This option affords a housing environment where all members receive the maximum level of support needed in order lead a fulfilled life. *include nursing delegation services with nursing oversight
The completely wheelchair accessible home has four individual bedrooms and a shared open plan living room, kitchen, dining room and terraced garden. Nursing delegation services with nursing oversight are utilized.
Respite Center– The Harold C. Schott Respite Center provides a much-needed break for families caring for someone with a disability at home. Think of us as a highly-equipped hotel. Our short-term-stay model allows families to travel for work or vacation, run typical errands, reconnect and rest while we take care of supporting their loved one. Nurses and DSPs staff the designated Respite Center 24/7.
Adult Day Programs– No one wants to spend all day at home, every day of the week. It can be challenging for adults with complex disabilities to secure employment or find fulfilling volunteering opportunities in the community that provide continual personal growth, diverse interactions and fulfillment. The Adult Day Programs at St. Joseph Home (offered in two locations) are designed for those who have a strong desire for engagement in community life and allows participants to have an active role in planning their day based on where they want to go and what they want to accomplish.
How You Can Help
Our donation of $1,000 will go towards PPE for the cottages at St. Joseph and to purchase tablets with video capabilities to provide residents facetime with the friends and families who aren’t currently allowed in the building due to COVID.
St. Joseph’s residential, family respite, and adult day programs survive on donations alone one out of every five days in the year. That’s 73 days every year that our services are running because of you. If you would like to donate to this Best Ever Cause, please follow the link below. Thank you!
