Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF), USA, founded in 1998 by Mr. K. Muralidharan, Mr. K. Sridharan, and Mr. Khushnood Ahmad, is striving hard to eradicate curable blindness in India. SEF is registered as a non-profit under sec 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The goal for SEF, USA is to support the service provider, SEF, India and raise funds for surgeries as well as capital funds to build super specialty eye-care hospitals across India.
The magnitude of blindness is enormous. India has the largest population of the world’s blind; with over 55 million visually impaired and 8 million of them totally blind.
Every year, two million more people are added to these statistics. Fortunately, nearly 80% of them can easily be cured if only they can receive the treatment. Sadly, majority of these people lack the knowledge and/or the funds required for the procedures.
What They Do The mission of Sankara’s Eye Foundation is to reach out to the rural poor and provide quality eye care free of cost to the needy by building operationally self-sufficient super specialty eye care hospitals across India. The vision is to eradicate curable blindness in India.
