Operation Give Back is a Cincinnati non-profit that strives for educational equity and provides community outreach to students and families in need, inspiring all to realize their full potential and GIVE BACK to society.
The goal of Operation Give Back is for every student to have the opportunity to mature into their best selves educationally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and professionally.
Operation Give Back has several different programs.
AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING/MENTORING PROGRAM– this is Operation Give Back’s signature program. This program works closely with the Sycamore Community Schools to identify students in 1st – 8th grades who would benefit from academic support or assistance with other skills. They enroll approximately 45 students each year, each of whom are transported by Sycamore District Buses for 2½ hours of afterschool tutoring, three days per week. Operation Give Back has a cheerful 6,000 sq. ft. “home”, which offers plenty of space for volunteer tutors to engage with OGB students, offering them the support needed to reach academic success. The progress of the students can be seen in improved grades, enhanced self-confidence, and the demonstration of life skills that they can take onto higher education and into the working world. The After-School program runs from September to May.
WHIZ KIDS – Once a week, Whiz Kids extends the program for one hour by focusing on increasing reading literacy. Each student is paired with a caring adult that helps them improve reading skills and comprehension.
FOOD PANTRY – Operation Give Back welcomes over 50 local families to their onsite Food Pantry each month, offering a variety of nutritious foods and household items. Their partnership with the Freestore Foodbank allows them to include fresh produce and meats in their offerings. During the school year, nutritious snacks and meals are sent home with Sycamore students, helping feed over 100 hungry children per week.
SCHOOL SUPPLY GIVEAWAY – Each fall, OGB kicks off the school year by providing school supplies for over 540 children in a variety of local schools. All of the supplies are donated by local churches, schools, businesses and individuals.
HOLIDAY STORE – OGB also operates a Holiday Store that delivers donated toys, clothing and food to over 150 less fortunate families in our three mile service radius.
Our $1,000 donation will go directly to support both the community food pantry (which services 300+ people each month from the surrounding communities) as well as OGB’s after school tutoring program (servicing 30+ elementary age students with academic support as well as mentoring support).
