Helping Haitian Angels was founded by Bill and Debbie Harvey in 2008 after Debbie’s first missionary trip to Haiti. After finding 35 children living in an abandoned building starving, drinking contaminated water, and sleeping on hard, cold tile floors with no blankets, towels, or pillows, it became Debbie’s life mission to save these children. She returned back to the United States and her and her husband launched “Helping Haitian Angels.” They raised enough money to provide medical care, shelter, food, and clean water for the children they found in Cap-Haїtien, Haiti. It is now a growing non-profit that hosts four mission trips a year, 2 dental trips, has opened the Lekol Harvey Christian School, a church, and a vocation program.
Helping Haitian Angels’ (HHA) mission is to care for orphaned children “Angels” in Haiti by raising them to become happy, successful members of their communities who will have the tools to positively impact future generations. HHA achieves this by providing for the overall development of the children in its care. HHA ensures their basic needs are met – nourishment and a safe, comfortable home – and also provides for the children’s physical, spiritual, emotional, and academic well-being. HHA consistently strives to strengthen its understanding of the Haitian people and develop long-lasting relationships through a mutual respect and effective communication.
